ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THEATRES IN BAVARIA

CITY THEATRE

Thrilling in-house productions, impressive concerts in the historical building.

Whether you are watching an internationally staffed guest performance or a thrilling in-house production, impressive concerts, a delicate dance theatre or the fairytale world “Märchensommer Allgäu” at the Burghalde ruins: You will not get bored during a visit at the THEATRE IN KEMPTEN.

The THEATRE IN KEMPTEN (T:K) is a city theatre with a small ensemble and 400 years of theatre tradition in a historical building under preservation order with two theatre halls and a workshop stage. It is one of Bavaria’s most beautiful theatres. Productions from the entire German-speaking area are performed here. The theatre produces in-house productions up to six times a year and many renowned artists are invited to work on these productions with the T:K team.

For young and old music lovers, first-rate concerts and musicals are organised with well-known orchestras, soloists and bands. The T:K attaches great importance to diverse children and youth events. There is a wide offer for school classes and kindergarten groups which is being extended more and more.

You can find information about the stage events on the city theatre’s homepage.

ON THE TRACKS OF HISTORY

BURGHALDE KEMPTEN

The “Burghalde” ruins are located directly above the historic town of Kempten. In the Middle Ages, there was a castle at this location; however, in the 18th century, it was destroyed entirely–apart from one tower. The castle was built around 1488 and has been a part of the city ever since.

Since 1950, an open-air stage has been located on the premises, which is used as an open-air cinema or for other city events in the summer. For example, in the middle of May, a medieval artisan market takes place there, where the visitors are entertained by medieval tournaments and jesters.

The “Burghalde” has even more to offer apart from the beautiful view of the alps: The castle museum “Allgäuer Burgenmuseum” is also located on the premises.

AT TH BACHTELWEIHER

MINIGOLF

You have just arrived and a round of minigolf sounds just right? We have the perfect destination for you!

The lake “Bachtelweiher” is located on the outskirts of Kempten. A charming minigolf course directly at the lakeside invites guests to have a go. The 18 different courses offer something for everyone. On top of that, children can visit the petting zoo and you can enjoy a rewarding drink in the beer garden.
