„By far one of the most impressive spectacles of nature in the Allgäu region!“
The natural phenomenon Breitachklamm is a ravine in the Allgäu formed by the river Breitach. You will find it at the beginning of the valley Kleinwalsertal near Tiefenbach/Oberstdorf. It is one of the deepest ravines in the Bavarian Alps and is considered the deepest rocky gorge of Central Europe.
The trails of the ravine are optimally passable and secured. Depending on the season and the weather conditions, the Breitachklamm offers a different spectacle: In summer, the ravine sparkles marvellously in the sunlight. When it rains, magnificent waterfalls delight the visitors. And in winter, gigantic ice curtains and snow-covered rocks turn the Breitachklamm into a veritable winter wonderland. In the surroundings of the ravine, there are many more trails to explore. Whichever trail you take, solid shoes are always essential.
In order to guarantee the safety of the 30,000 visitors coming each year, the access to the ravine is closed in spring and autumn for a few weeks to be able to carry out repair work. You can find the most important information here.
A few kilometres away is the Große Alpsee near Immenstadt. This beautiful lake offers many opportunities for those who like sailing, SUP-surfing, minigolf and much more.
